Writing a Dissertation/Thesis - Introduction

Hi semua. Sebagaimana tajuk di atas, saya akan kongsi langkah-langkah, cara bagaimana menulis satu dissertation/thesis. Saya akan campur sedikit bahasa, jadi minta maaf, sebab biasanya, ia akan dibuat dalam Bahasa Inggeris. Kesalahan dari segi grammar, tatabahasa, mohon maaf ya. So, let's get it started.

When I was doing my Master's degree at UiTM, I need to do a dissertation during my last semester, as part of my course and graduation requirement. I need to write the dissertation between 15,000 words to 30,000 words. There are quite numbers of steps that you need to follow to complete it. I'll just make it into few parts;

• Pre-dissertation
• During writing the dissertation
• Post submit dissertation

Pre-dissertation will consist of  searching for a research title, preparing a research proposal, finding and appointing a supervisor.

During writing your dissertation, there will be quite lots of steps, as you will need to write five (5) chapters, and each chapter has its own ways to do it, to explain it. Chapter One will be your introduction, Chapter Two will be your literature review, Chapter Three will be your Research Methodology, Chapter Four is your data analysis and findings, and finally, Chapter Five will be your Discussion and Conclusion. After completing the write-up, you will then need to check for plagiarism, for English Edit. For this one, I might split it by Chapter, as explaining and sharing how to do it might leads to quite lengthy for you to read and to understand.

Post submission, you will need to prepare for your result, whether you pass it or not, whether you have minor or major correction, and you need to do your correction and submit it back and to print your dissertation.

Disclaimer:

1. The steps need to do it, the chapters, the flow, the explanation might differ between one faculty to another, and between one university to another, and also, changes might occur even for those doing the same course as I am. So, I apologize for that, and that I hope at least, what I share can give a brief synopsis, introduction or even a picture to what you will need to do, as I myself having a quite hard time doing my dissertation cause I basically just don't have any idea at the beginning of my dissertation. 
2. I am not perfect. What I share might be wrong or differ from what you've been taught, so I'm sorry for that. I share is based on my experience writing my dissertation. If there are contradiction between what I share here and what your supervisor/lecturer/faculty/university want, do follow them, as different people/university have different ways and requirements to do it.
